Sky Scraping Buddhist Statues : Ushiku Daibutsu - Japan


There is a flower garden on the site and beautiful flowers can be seen with the change of seasons. Comleted in 19993 it stands a total of 110m (361ft) high base and 10m high lotus platform. It is also known as Ushiku Arcadia (Amidae' Radiance and compassion actually developing and illuminating area). It was built to mark the birth of Shinran, founder of theJodo Shinshu or "True Pure Land school" of Buddhim. Inside the statue itself is a four storey building, which serves as a museum.
