Sky Scraping Buddhist Statues : Laykyun Setkyar - Myanmar




Laykyun setkyar - the second tallest standing statue in the world is located in the village of Khatakan Taung, in Myanmar. Considered as the biggest standing Buddha image it is said to enclose 7350 relics and other holy materials. 

Sky Scraping Buddhist Statues : Ushiku Daibutsu - Japan




Ushiku Daibutsu located in Ushiku, Ibaraki prefecture, Japan depicts Amitabha Buddha or "Buddha of Infinite Light" and is considered as a Celestial Buddha, as described in the Mahayana scriptures. This statue is authorized by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest standing Buddha figure in the world and you can enter the inner chambers of the giant statue by elevator.

Sky Scraping Buddhist Statues : Guan Yin of the Sea of Sanya - China



The Guan Yin of the South Sea of Sanya is a 108-metre (354 ft) statue of the bodhisattva Guan Yin, sited on the south coast of China's island province Hainan near the Nanshan Temple of Sanya.The statue has three aspects; one side faces inland and the other two face the South China Sea, to represent blessing and protection by Guan Yin of China and the whole world. One aspect depicts Guan Yin cradling a sutra in the left hand and gesturing the Vitarka Mudra with the right, the second with her palms crossed, holding a string of prayer beads, and the third holding a lotus. This is currently the fourth tallest statue in the world (many of which are Buddhist statues) and the tallest statue of Guan Yin in the world.

Sendai Dikannon, a large statue depicting "Avalokiesvara" or buddha or fompassion.

Located in japan, is the sixth tallest statue in the world at 100m (328ft). An elevator takes tourists to the top of the statue, which depicts the Japanse Buddhist.Bodhisattva Kannon. There are 12 floors inside and visitors can take and elevator to go the upper floors where they can see the great view of the city and the Pacific Ocean through observation windows.

The spring temple Buddha is the tallest statue in the world, at 502 feet ( when considering the building upon which it sites)and it was completed in 2002, at a cost of $ 55 million. It depicts vairocan, Buddha seen as the embodiment of emptioness ( Shunyata). It is located in the Zhaocun township of Lushan county, Henan,China. It is placed within the Fodushan Scenic Area, close to National Freeway No 311.

Giant thumb statue in Paris


The giant thumb statue in Paris is called "Le Pouce de Cesar"(The Thumb) and is 12 meters high, 4 meters wide and weighs 18 tonnes. This can be found at the area of Paris called La Defense near the Grande Arche. La Défense is a major business district of the Paris aire urbaine.It is centered in an orbital motorway straddling the Hauts-de-Seine département municipalities of Nanterre, Courbevoie and Puteaux.

This artistic creation done by the renowned French sculptor Cesar Baldaccini. He designed this sculpture in 1965.
